Weight loss programs
The word "program" gets used for everything from an app subscription to genuine medical care. What separates them is who is accountable for the decisions: whether a licensed clinician reviews your history, sets the dose and adjusts it, or whether you are simply sold a product.
Which program
Most people arrive wanting the medication and end up needing the structure around it. The program decides how often you are reviewed, who you can ask when something feels wrong, and what happens when a dose is not tolerated.
The differences that matter are practical: whether the plan is physician-supervised, whether nutrition support is included, whether it is built for someone starting from a BMI of 30 or someone at 27 with a diagnosed condition, and whether it is designed for the long term or for twelve weeks.
Programs for men and for women exist because the starting points and the questions genuinely differ, not as a marketing split. Where a condition such as prediabetes or sleep apnea is in the picture, it changes the plan. Medical weight loss program, Physician-supervised care and Non-surgical management go further into it.
How a program runs
History, current medications, conditions and measurements. This is where suitability is decided, and it happens before any product is discussed.
If medication is appropriate it begins at the lowest dose. The step-up schedule is written down so you know what is coming and when.
Progress and tolerance are checked at set points. Doses move only when the current one is settled.
If it is not working or not tolerated, the plan changes. Staying on something that is not helping is not a plan.

What is included, how long programs run, and what happens if it is not working.
I had done three app-based things before this. The difference was that someone actually read my medication list and changed the plan because of it.
The review schedule was written down at the start. I knew when the dose would move and what had to be true first.
I came in asking about surgery and left with a non-surgical plan and a proper explanation of why that was the sensible first move.
They asked what I had already tried and why it stopped. First time anyone had asked that rather than starting from zero.
