Medical program

The medical weight loss program in Orlando

This is the core program and the one most people mean when they search for medical weight loss. A licensed clinician assesses you, decides whether prescription treatment is appropriate, sets the dose schedule and reviews it. Everything else is built on top of this.

  • Assessment before any prescription
  • Written dose schedule from day one
  • Reviews at set intervals, not on request

What it includes

What a medical weight loss program actually covers

The assessment is the substantial part. Height and weight give a BMI, but the useful information is in the conditions you have been diagnosed with, the medications already in your cabinet, and what you have tried before and why it stopped.

If a GLP-1 fits, you get a prescription at the lowest dose and a written schedule for stepping it up. If it does not fit, you get an explanation and a realistic account of what else is worth doing.

After that it is reviews. Progress, tolerance and dose, on a timetable rather than whenever you think to ask. That timetable is what makes it a program rather than a prescription. How it works covers the next part, alongside Do I qualify and Program cost.

The program

A medical weight loss program, month by month

  1. Month zero

Eligibility check, then the consultation. Suitability decided, questions answered, and the plan written down before anything is dispensed.

  2. Month one

Lowest dose. This month is about tolerating the medication, not about results. Side effects are most likely here and most manageable here.

  3. Months two to four

Titration. The dose steps up only when the current one is settled. Most of the adjustment work happens in this window.

  4. Maintenance

A steady dose, longer gaps between reviews, and a conversation about how long treatment continues and what stopping would look like.

Who it suits

Who the medical program is built for

It suits people who meet the clinical thresholds and want the medication managed properly rather than simply supplied. That includes anyone taking other prescriptions, because interactions are the most common reason a plan needs adjusting.

It is not the right fit if you are looking only for a prescription with no follow-up. That exists elsewhere and it is cheaper. It is also not appropriate below the BMI thresholds, whatever the price on offer. There is more in Physician-supervised care, BMI requirements and Drug interactions.

Common questions

Medical weight loss program questions

What is included, how long it runs, and what happens at each review.

No. It is part of it when a clinician decides it is appropriate. Where it is not, the program is assessment, nutrition support and monitoring, and you will be told plainly what that alone tends to achieve.
Closer together at the start, while the dose is being titrated, then further apart once you reach a maintenance dose. The schedule is set at the first consultation so you know it in advance.
The assessment and the follow-up. A supply service gets you the product. A program decides whether it is appropriate, adjusts it, and catches the problems. The difference shows up in month two, not month one.
Yes. Bring the current dose, how long you have been on it and how you have tolerated it. Transferring care is common and the schedule usually continues rather than restarting.
Yes, and it matters more on a GLP-1 than off one, because appetite falls and intake can fall with it. Protein in particular gets attention because of what happens to lean mass otherwise.

★★★★★

The written schedule was what I had been missing. Two previous attempts elsewhere were just repeat prescriptions with nobody watching.

★★★★★

Moved across already on treatment. They kept the dose rather than restarting me, which I had been worried about.

A. Boateng
Transferred care, Tampa
★★★★

More questions at the start than I expected. Two of my medications needed spacing out and that would have been missed elsewhere.

★★★★★

The maintenance conversation happened before I asked for it. Knowing the plan for stopping made staying on it easier.
